Fire safety tips for Thanksgiving
Kidde recently announced that 142 models of fire extinguishers are being recalled due to potential faults when the extinguishers are discharged. The recall affects approximately 40 million extinguishers across the country.

Fire safety tips for Thanksgiving
More fires start in the kitchen than anywhere else in the home. And on Thanksgiving, in particular, there are three times as many house fires than any other day of the year, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
“We’ve had fires where people took the turkey right out of the freezer, put it right in the oven, forgot to take the plastic off and next thing you know, you have an oven fire,” McGill said.
McGill and his five firefighters feasted today, Thanksgiving eve, a tradition for his crew, because Thursday is expected to be one of their busiest days.

National Fire Prevention Week Rochester NY

Monroe Extinguisher is proud to support and help our neighbors during National Fire Prevention Week. Running from October 8-14, 2017, Fire Prevention Week is an opportunity to educate yourself and your family about the need for planning and preparedness in case of a fire. Monroe Extinguisher is partnering with the NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) to assist in events around the Rochester NY area in many different ways. Here are some excellent resources to help you get started. Don’t forget to check your fire extinguishers to ensure they have a proper charge. During Fire Prevention Week, Monroe Extinguisher is offering free extinguisher inspections at our location at 105 Dodge Street, Rochester NY 14606.
